Description
Please watch our video to learn more about P1, P2 and P3 cultures. This video is available in the ‘Video Guide’ tab.
Professional Range
P1 cultures, also known as master liquid Cultures, are the most vigorous cultures available on the market.
P2 Cultures are made from P1 cultures by expanding them 10 folds, so 10 ml to 100 ml.
Commercial Range
P3 Cultures are made from P2 cultures by expanding them 10-fold, so 10 ml to 100 ml.
General Lions mane Information
Lions mane takes 12-14 days to incubate grain spawn, 3 weeks to incubate 3 kg substrate and 7 days to fruit after incubation when grown in ideal temperatures. Mycelium is considered Thin and Wispy, ie. The mycelium does not grow dense white like oysters. It starts as almost invisible. A common mistake people make with Lion’s mane is they wait for full white growth, but before that happens, you may see fruits already start to form.
Orientation-side fruiting can grow from the top. Grow on Sawdust 80% and bran 20% or a master mix(Mix of Sawdust and Soy hulls) substrate. The substrate needs to be Sterelised.
Mushroom farms grow them in 3-4 Kg blocks in a grow bag.
Some home growers have successfully grown the lion mane in buckets in a super pasteurised sawdust pellet (Boiling water + calcium hydroxide). Still, please note that doing this may result in unreliable fruiting and contamination issues. Perfecting this method over several years can make the method worthwhile. Rootlab suggests using high grain to super-pasteurise the substrate if you use this method. Please do not use supplements like coffee, soy hulls, bran, etc., when the super pasteurisation method is used for Lion’s mane to decrease the chance of contamination.
Once cooked, they are slightly chewy, tender, and juicy, with a seafood-like taste. They are best made as Steaks or fritters.
Strain(Dazzle) Specific Information
Dazzle is considered an easy culture to grow.
Lion’s Mane Dazzle (Hericium erinaceus). Wood-loving Species, Fruiting temp: 16°-22°C.
Store Lion’s Mane Dazzle in the fridge at 2°C.
Incubate at 22°C. Maintain humidity at 90-100% for pin formation and drop by 5-10% during fruiting. If the fruits start to turn yellow, decrease the temperature. If the fruits start to turn leggy, increase the airflow.
This strain is used both for gourmet and medicinal purposes. It’s a very high fruiting strain.
The liquid culture can be used in various cultivation techniques. You may introduce the liquid culture into sterilized grain jars/bags, agar Petri dishes, or even another nutrient Sterile jar to expand into the more liquid culture.
This mushroom liquid culture is made with the best strain we can find. It is checked every six months for its vigour and ability to fruit on a commercial scale. Each jar is tested before it is sent out. We give a 100% guarantee on our culture.
