Description
Used for humans, gardening, mycology, livestock, bird and dog supplements. This product is made with just a white eggshell and nothing else added to it. Food grade and completely safe for humans to consume.
In mushroom cultivation, it serves as a PH buffer for the substrate. This means that the PH will remain steady as the mushroom grows. When mycelium expands, it releases acid compounds to help digest the substrate media. These acids could drastically change the PH of the substrate, making it difficult for mushrooms to fruit. Calcium carbonate prevents the substrate from becoming too acidic for the mycelium to produce fruits. Depending on the method, soak, boil, and dry your grains and then add Calcium Carbonate. Mix well and then sterilize.
Use 5% of Calcium Carbonate of the total weight of your grain spawn.
Note: Calcium Carbonate ‘lime’ is NOT for pasteurizing. We have a listing for Calcium Hydroxide Ca(OH)2, which is used for pasteurization.
