The overpressure plug is a replaceable part for All American Sterilizer (Both Stove top and Electric model) This part is not for the pressure canner. For example, 1941 is a pressure canner and 1941X is a Sterilizer.

All American asks all resellers of the product( That’s us) to notify consumers that changing the overpressure plug is considered a modification of the device and legally, it cannot be used as a medical device if it is not changed by a professional.
It is quite a scary experience to have your overpressure plug suddenly pop up one day, making a loud noise and releasing the pressure mid-sterilization. If you have experienced this, please look for a yellow envelope that came with your sterilizer along with some paperwork, All Americans always provide a spare plug. But every individual needs to have a spare as it is one of the parts that needs constant changing.
