An agar plate is a Petri dish containing a nutrient-rich growth medium solidified with agar, designed for culturing microorganisms. Selective compounds, like antibiotics, are sometimes added to promote or restrict the growth of specific organisms.
We offer various pre-poured Agar dishes to use in different settings. Our MEAG agar dishes are the most popular plates but are not ideal for testing contamination as it does not support the growth of bacteria. If you do require a plate to test for contamination or grow bacteria, we suggest getting an MEA plate instead.
